HIV Counseling Services

Did you just find out about your HIV diagnosis?  Are you feeling overwhelmed and hopeless about your health and life?  I'm here for you.  HIV is a very treatable medical condition, but it comes along with decades of stigma and misunderstanding that can make this diagnosis feel unbearable. You don't have to walk this path alone.

How can counseling help me?

As your counselor, I will provide a supportive, non-judgmental, sex-positive space where you can talk openly about your feelings.  I'm here to help you decide who you want to tell about your diagnosis (if anybody), learn about the power you have to manage your health, and deal with any obstacles that get in the way of medical treatment.  It might feel as if your life is over, but I will help you find hope and create a new future for yourself.

Are you trained to work in HIV services?

Yes, trained and passionate about my work.  I worked as a medical social worker/therapist in HIV clinics in New York City for 5 years.  I make it a priority to stay informed about current events and medical advances in treating HIV.

Can you coordinate with my doctor?

Absolutely.  I believe it is important to have ongoing communication with your medical provider so I can best support you around issues that are affecting your health.  I will ask you to sign a release of information form so that I can communicate with your doctor.  I will not disclose information about you without your permission.
